BBC said Mexican President Felipe Calderon yesterday attended the inauguration of cable-stayed bridge Baluarte. The bridge has a height 403 m, north across a deep ravine in the Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains, north of Mexico. Baluarte high as the Eiffel Tower can also be "fit entirely easy" under the middle of the bridge.
"This project will connect people in northern Mexico," Calderon said during the inauguration. Mr. Calderon also represented the government in Mexico to receive certification from the organization's official Guinness record for the highest cable-stayed bridge in the world. This title previously belonged to the famous Millau viaduct tree Viaduct in France.
Baluarte bridge is longer than 1000 m is one of the 200 days of works celebrating Mexico achieved independence from Spain. Expected to be open to traffic this year and attracts many tourists as well as commercial activities in the region.
Bridge is a section of new highway Mazatlan-Durango, passing through rugged mountains of Mexico. Baluarte addition, the highway will also include eight other bridges over 300 m high and more than 60 tunnels. Mazatlan-Durango was built to replace the winding roads and well-known hazard previously known as "Devil's Backbone." New road will help move durations from Mazatlan to Durango lower than in the past 6 hours. The road will also be part of a modern highway linking the Pacific coast and the Atlantic Ocean
