Sketch model of cooperation between Mercedes and Renault-Nissan
Mercedes-Benz has released the first images of a sample outline Citan van, a product of collaboration between the German car manufacturer Renault-Nissan alliance.
Citan car will be officially unveiled at the IAA Motor Show organized trade in Hannover (Germany) in September this year and will be sold soon after.
Citan Mercedes-Benz will extend the product range in the van segment light traffic - the company now has Vito (2.77 to 3.2 tons), Sprinter (3-5 tons) and Vario (6-8, 2 tons).
German carmaker said sales of the small van segment has increased in two decades and reached 700,000 vehicles in Europe alone. The Company plans to increase market share from 4 to 5% in this segment with Citan models, corresponding to the output from 28,000 to 35,000 vehicles / year in Europe.
Citan car is expected to have multiple versions, such as panel van, minibus and Mixto (travel version), with a diverse selection of length and weight.
Mercedes has not announced the specs of the motor vehicle equipped for Citan.
